Northern Argentina: Salta, Cafayate & Purmamarca Tour

Few places on earth wear colour like Argentina's northwest, and this eight-day journey takes you through all of it. From your base in Salta, wind south through the Quebrada de las Conchas, where wind and water have carved the rock into amphitheatres and devil's throats, to the vineyards of Cafayate and its Torrontés poured straight from the source. Climb the Cuesta del Obispo through a forest of towering cacti to colonial Cachi, stand beneath Purmamarca's Hill of Seven Colours, and cross the high Puna to the blinding white of the Salinas Grandes. Follow the UNESCO-listed Quebrada de Humahuaca through Tilcara, Uquía, and Humahuaca, before a final day in gaucho country — a horseback ride through the hills, a regional feast with wine, and live folk music. This is the north as it deserves to be seen: slowly, and in full colour.
